Take a look at what our Youth Ambassador Charlie has been getting up too!

Hi everyone my name is Charlie Adams and I am part of the newly formed Knights Foundation Youth Ambassador team. 

I would like to start my section of the blog off by showing what it is like for a disabled supporter to attend a football match. I have chosen to cover this topic because I am extremely passionate about Chelsea Football Club, and have been attending matches frequently over the past 6 seasons. One of the main reasons why I feel so comfortable attending matches is because it is fully inclusive towards all fans, regardless of accessible needs, making everyone feel welcome to enjoy the match. I recently attended Chelsea’s round of 16 Champions League tie, showcasing the facilities that Chelsea have to offer.

From the pictures shown, I have highlighted a number of accessible entrances suitable for any mobility aid such as wheelchairs while also avoiding any stairs. 

Chelsea FC also have many accessible toilets around the ground that are fully equipped with adjustable sinks, hoists and showers. Their are also seats for disabled supporters and their carers with tv screens incase individuals have difficulties with their sight. Chelsea also have sensory rooms around the ground for supporters who have additional sensory needs so that they can fully enjoy the match. Supporters can access the ground via parking in  spaces roughly a mile from ground that are free when you use a blue badge. Pathways are flat and accessible for wheelchair users Alternatively supporters can use the train where fees can be subsidised by a disabled railcard, and support for boarding can be arranged at stations.
